Education Background

Emily was taught from a young age to honor her family's immigrant roots and explore other cultures. She graduated with honors from the University of Kansas, earning bachelor’s degrees in Political Science, Spanish, & Latin American Studies, plus a Global Studies certificate. While at KU, she studied abroad in Spain and Costa Rica and traveled through Europe and South America. She earned her law degree from American University’s Washington College of Law in DC, where she participated in the International Human Rights & Immigration Law Clinic and an internship that provided legal orientation and deportation defense to detained immigrants.
